You will serve as a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in Product Verification Inspection (PVI) Division, Quality Assurance (QA) Department of the SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Duties

You will monitor contractor compliance to the Navy and commercial hull/structure fit-up, accuracy control, welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and allied processes specifications and standards. You will perform procedure reviews and conduct independent surveys and Hull specific focused audits. You will provide in-process and product verification inspections and witness contractor weld qualifications, testing, and evaluations. You will review and monitor contractor Quality Management systems for qualifying personnel, procedures, equipment, and vendors. You will provide on-site quality assistance to SUPSHIP Gulf Coast project offices. You will review contractors' testing procedure and results. You will function as Quality Assurance (QA) Representative for SUPSHIP Gulf Coast at remote Contractor's facilities. You will work or assist in other branch divisions of the QA department as the workload dictates.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating contractor performance or operating processes to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements and controls in shipbuilding operations.
