About the Position: Serve as a Security Manager for the CIO/G-6. Responsible for managing programs and administering the internal OPSEC, information, personnel, physical, industrial, information systems, and technical security programs that have worldwide impact. Assists in developing and managing all aspects of the Organizational Security Program and assists to evaluate existing programs for adequacy and efficiency.

Duties

Implement procedures to ensure all assigned personnel who handle classified material are appropriately instructed, cleared, and have a need for access. Present and defend the organizations position at HQDA, inter-service and interagency meetings. Perform staff visits to activities, providing guidance on policy and ensuring the objectives of the force protection/physical security programs are met. Analyze and recommend upgrading or additional security systems to safeguard facilities and documents. Process requests for clearances, manages the Joint Personnel Access System (JPAS) and controls the Request for Access to Secret and Top Secret accesses.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
