As an IT Specialist in the Information Management Branch of Marketing and Regulatory Programs Business Services, IT Division, you will serve as an Electronic Discovery (eDiscovery) Program Specialist, responsible for administering specialized software, customer support, and collection of electronically stored information.

Duties

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Administering eDiscovery software, providing technical expertise and training. Developing and maintaining technical processes and procedures that facilitate compliance with requirements. Providing customer support to users of eDiscovery software, including working with customers on ingest and acceptance of data files into the system, developing solutions to meet customer needs, export and disposition of data. Fulfilling official discovery orders by providing identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production services. Participating in legal proceedings regarding methods and preparation used to support a case.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Performing collection eDiscovery functions in accordance with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Performing processing tasks in an eDiscovery review platform in accordance with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Performing production tasks in an eDiscovery review platform that are acceptable in legal proceedings or as early case assessment in accordance with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Administering eDiscovery software, including vendor relations, data management, and compliance with requirements. Providing customer support and training to users of eDiscovery software. Communicating verbally and in writing, including conducting briefings and writing reports. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. In addition, all applicants qualifying based on experience must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Applicants must demonstrate possession of these competencies within the body of the resume; no separate statements addressing them are required. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
