About the Position: Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) mission statement: To receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components to meet contingency requirements in support of the warfighter. This will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Ensure necessary components needed for explosives operations are available to support production rates. Identify workflow that may cause bottlenecks. Ensure machines are in adjustment and ready to use. Prepare work assignments for explosives handlers and operators. Determine if tooling is suitable for explosive use. Enforce all Safety regulations and seek information regarding safety considerations when starting a job.

Requirements

  • One year Supervisory trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires pre-appointment and annual physical examinations.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922), authorizing you to carry/possess a firearm and/or ammunition.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs
  • Position requires a valid driver?s license.
  • Position requires ability to drive on the installation. Installation driving privileges are automatically granted unless suspended or revoked.
  • This position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain an Explosives Certification.

The work of the position normally includes: Provide direction to explosives handlers/operators to ensure operations such as production, disassembly, closed disposal, rework, or maintenance/renovation activities of conventional ammunition, munitions, pyrotechnics, and explosives are performed safely and effectively; plan the use of explosives handlers/operators, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis; take corrective action on conduct or performance problems. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies) in the following areas: Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Lead or SuperviseDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort - Mental exertion is continuously required. Work involves some sitting, with the remainder of the time devoted to walking, standing, stooping, and bending. Alertness is required to observe conformity to the various specifications as issued in instructions to accomplish the job. Color vision is very important to distinguishing various color codes for identification of ammunition. Working Conditions - Exposure to explosive hazards, dusts, paints, solvents, and thinner fumes are continuous. Working conditions are normally performed in heated, well-lighted buildings.
