You will serve as a FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST in the FACILITIES MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINMENT (FM&S) PRODUCT LINE at various PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENTS of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will analyze facilities systems affecting the activities within the area of responsibility (e.g., utilizing flow charting, graphing, other analytical techniques) to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness. You will make recommendations for addressing and correcting deficiencies. You will propose solutions to address shifting priorities or scheduling conflicts of project work. You will conduct work-site surveillance to verify quality requirements are met.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the following training courses within the prescribed timeframe: FY Mandatory and IDP required training to be completed on/before effective date.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting with conducting analyses and assessments of facility, site and environmental conditions, and applying these regulations to environmental engineering; 2) Assisting in designing, planning, and cost estimating for the trades and crafts involved in execution of facilities services; 3) Communicating effectively with customers and Management; 4) Preparing detailed specifications for item/services required in purchased in place contracts, and maintaining responsibility for quality control inspection for the same. ***NOTE: This information MUST be supported in your resume.*** Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience above may qualify with education or a combination of experience and education as follows: You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
You have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.
OR

OR
You have a combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
