Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will use your knowledge of and experience with developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems and services to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serves as an expert technical advisor developing approaches and establishing specifications and security guidelines for information systems. Serves as senior subject matter expert in reviewing security vulnerabilities in information systems, performs analysis to understand security risks, and develops remediation plans to secure information systems. Serves as the subject matter expert in emerging technologies such as "cloud", "infrastructure as a service", "platform as a service" and "software as a service" and guides architecture and development of information systems. Serves as a subject matter expert in transforming manual procedures into computer driven automated workflows that support well-designed business cases while ensuring strong security posture. Monitors problem trends, synthesizes data and proposes proactive and well-researched actions to manage and secure information systems in an independent manner.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Basic Requirements for all Information Technology (IT) Management Series Series, 2210 positions require that you demonstrate specialized experience in each of the following four competencies:1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: - Developing policies, procedures, standards, and standard operations procedures (SOPs) to ensure information systems are developed and managed in accordance with Federal Information Security Modernization Act's (FISMA)???? confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements. - Designing, developing, and/or managing systems that meet current and future requirements and enhance or optimize the existing architecture. - Evaluating new technologies and makes substantiated recommendations and/or business cases for implementation and adoption by the enterprise. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
