About the Position: Serves as a Systems Administration Information Technology (IT) Specialist under the supervision of the Supervisory IT Specialist, Center for Army Analysis (CAA). Responsible for the oversight of all matters concerning File, Print and Application Server Support Service operations. Provides advice, planning, service definition, and funding coordination of all IT and Information Management (IM) requirements (business and mission) for the organization.
Duties
Serve as an Active Directory (AD) Manager and System Administrator of Microsoft (MS) Windows and Linux servers employing physical servers, virtual servers, blade servers, and Storage Area Network (SAN).
Install, configure, administer, operate and maintain common user web and portal servers.
Provide guidance in the preparation of IT budgets by preparing and submitting appropriate procurement documents required to procure equipment, systems, and services identified to meet user requirements.
Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of new or modified hardware, operating systems and applications software systems.
Ensure the rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of planning and management services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- The incumbent must achieve IAT Level II certification within six months or less of entrance on duty.

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below based on the grade level required of the position being filled:

Specialized Experience: In order to qualify for this position your resume must describe one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) performed system administrator/operator duties for physical servers, virtual servers, blade servers, and Storage Area Networks (SAN) in Microsoft (MS) Windows and Linux environments; 2)install and test new hardware, operating systems and applications software; and 3) developed agency level security certification and accreditation plans.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
