As an Information Receptionist assigned to the Community Engagement and Veteran Experience department with their primary assignment at the information desk located at the primary visitor entrance to the medical center or any other area where patients and visitors would seek information or standing in strategic locations where patients and visitors need wayfinding assistance as directed by supervisor.

GS-3:
Experience: You must have 6 months of general experience General experience is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Information Receptionist. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 year of education above high school. OR,
Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
GS-04:
Experience: You must have 1 year of general experience General experience (at or equivalent to the GS-3 level) is defined as: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Information Receptionist. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of education above high school. OR,
Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The majority of duties performed will be while sitting at a desk, standing in strategic locations where patients and visitors need wayfinding assistance, or driving the parking lot shuttle. However, incumbent may be required to push wheelchair, bend or kneel to obtain information or walking to assist patients. Incumbent may also need to assist patients in ambulation, carrying of packages, etc. Incumbent must pass initial and recurring physical exams to operate the parking lot shuttle. Work is performed in a medical center responsible for treating patients with a wide variety of medical problems including psychiatric diagnosis. Work is partly performed in an indoor setting at the Information Desk and other wayfinding locations throughout the Medical Center, and partly outdoors operating the parking lot shuttle, a large golf cart. The incumbent will:
Maintain a safe working environment for self and customers
Attend safely training as mandated by medical center policies and procedures.
Be considered a front-line employee and attend all education/training pertaining to front-line employee status.
Operate the shuttle safely and in accordance with applicable training and policy.
