Duties
The work performed involves providing substantive administrative services in a variety of program areas. The incumbent performs a variety of special assignments involving all aspects of the administrative management of the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) and serves as a point of contact for program and/or administrative issues and requests. Duties require in-depth knowledge of administrative support services to analyze and implement improvements that will promote responsiveness and effectiveness.
Some of the duties may include:
Maintaining and administering a variety of USAO budget and financial management activities;
Administering a variety of USAO contracting and procurement activities;
Analyzing the spectrum of support services requirements of the USAO;
Coordinating a variety of facility maintenance and/or repair activities for USAO workspaces;
Promoting and coordinating effective records management programs with USAO managers and employees by providing guidance and training;
Supporting the USAO security program;
Projecting and analyzing space needs based on proposed initiatives, staff changes, and technology improvements;
In conjunction with the Administrative Officer (AO), planning and procuring USAO services and equipment, e.g., printing, reproduction, publications, furniture, equipment, office supplies, and law library resources;
Planning, developing, and administering programs to train and develop district employees in coordination with the management team;
Coordinating or assisting with USAO special events, press conferences, meetings or community outreach activities.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
GS-9
To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized Experience includes experience monitoring or controlling the budget and contracting and/or procurement activities; performing analysis of administrative programs and policies to determine the effectiveness or efficiency; and providing administrative support services in areas such as facilities management, records management, security, space management, and/or timekeeping and training.
Education:
One of the following types of education in a related field: a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
GS-11
To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrated knowledge, skill, and technical competence in the use of statistical and mathematical theories applicable to regulatory impact, policy analysis, professional methods of scientific inquiry and analysis in the solution of problems in determining economic and other impact on regulatory programs. Such experience must have involved extensive inquiry into or use of basic data; structuring of problems for systematic analysis; adaptation or development of scientific techniques; construction and use of analytical or mathematical models; formulation of recommendations for action; or planning, monitoring, or directing the above activities.
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years.
Education:
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see www.ed.gov.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
