Duties

As a SUPERVISORY CHIEF OF STAFF at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the Chief of Staff, managing all aspects of the Chief of Staff office's daily operations and the management and direction of office staff. Manages the internal staff processes for the development of CWMD and Emerging Threat directives and issuances in response to DoD changes in guidance, funding, and priorities. Provides guidance regarding the strategic planning for near-term and long-range goals and objectives for the Chief of Staff organization. Plans, coordinates and provides supervision in conducting comprehensive management studies and special projects and developing objectives and milestones related to Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction and/or and Emerging Threats; assigns workload to team members; and, develops methodologies to measure, monitor and evaluate all aspects of mission performance and resource utilization. Coordinates with Agency personnel as well as personnel from various offices of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the military services, and other Federal agencies, as necessary, to gather relevant data, conduct analysis, and perform other supporting tasks to optimize current policy standards and procedures and assure effective and economical management and implementation of best business practices. Manages the development of policy changes in response to changes in guidance, funding and priorities. Prepares the Agency Command Group to discuss issues with appropriate senior DoD officials and Congressional committee members as required.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Serving as an advisor to the Director of an Agency, and overseeing the management of an Agency's policies, programs, financial and staff resources across an Agency. Providing oversight, direction, and strategic guidance to enable well informed Agency /Organization level strategic, operational, and tactical decisions; finding solutions to issues; and exercising authorities, as defined by Senior Leadership to ensure Agency mission success, through the implementation of business practices across a broad spectrum. Using Countering WMD mission space, organizations, and governing policies and documents. Coordinating with Agency/Organization Senior Leadership to plan for short- and long-term cross-organization operations. Using collaborative and integration skills to ensure effective Agency governance and administration, including coordination of various executive level documents to ensure few to no errors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
