KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
RANGE OF SKILLS:
Engineers in the NH-855-03 pay band typically require a minimum of 30 months of Post-Bachelor-Degree engineering experience.
Master's degree is preferred.
Anticipated engineering positions may be filled at lower than the full-performance level with planned career promotions. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
Sought after skills for all AFNWC Electronics Engineer positions:
Demonstrated ability to creatively problem solve technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, testing, etc.) quickly and elegantly, with cost and schedule impact consideration is highly valued.
Experience with multitasking, prioritizing workload, tracking multiple technical issues at a time across multiple programs is strongly preferred.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team that operates at a high-performance pace is required.
Understanding of DoD weapon systems issues, and experience working with government organizations in areas such as research and development, design, acquisition, production, maintenance, repair, engineering support, testing and evaluation, range safety, and/or system modification is preferred.
Experience in defense weapon system development, especially ICBM weapon systems, is a plus.
For engineering positions in the Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle (RS/RV) Branch:
Experience with digital/analog power electronics, circuit design and analysis, electronics test methodology, and electronics-oriented work experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with development of test plans, procedures, and reports; support of hardware qualification activities, risk management; development and documentation of electronic and electrical system requirements; and configuration management activities is highly desired.
For engineering positions in the (SLP-A) Branch:
Experience in aircraft production or modification/sustainment programs is required.
Experience developing or reviewing airworthiness certification impacts & analyses and/or system safety assessments is preferred; familiarity with design concepts and certification related to cyber and nuclear systems is a plus.
Experience with Group A (wiring, installation brackets, etc.) and Group B (boxes/hardware) kit development, integration test and checkout, nuclear certification of the hardware, and/or modification of aircraft is ideal.
Experience related to aircraft electrical design, power systems, harness/bundle construction, cable routing, electrical standards and specifications, testing, management, data analysis and problem identification, and problem solving through innovative approaches is strongly preferred.
Experience with MIL-HDBK-516C, Airworthiness Certification Criteria, aircraft software programs, Operational Flight Programs, software maintenance, and Nuclear Safety Cross Check Analysis is highly valued.
Familiarity with the DoD Digital Engineering concepts, Model Based Systems Engineering principles, and Agile Software Development in scrum, Kanban, scaling agile, Agile architectures, user stories, or test-first is a plus.
Knowledge of Time Compliant Technical Orders, Technical Directives, Airworthiness Change Bulletins, Installation Data Packages, etc., is preferred.
For engineering positions in the Sentinel Systems Directorate, Systems Engineering & Integration Division:
Depth of experience in integrating Modeling, Simulation and Analysis efforts is highly valued.
Experience with design and evaluation of large, complex architectures is highly valued.
For engineering positions in the MMIII Data Management Branch:
A strong background in professional engineering principles, modeling and simulation frameworks, and simulation toolsets for communication and missile systems, digital engineering, and model-based engineering is preferred.
Depth of experience in integrating Modeling, Systems and Analysis and Model Based Systems Engineering efforts is highly valued.
