In this position you will serve as an expert Information Technology (lT) Systems analyst in planning, designing, implementing, managing, and operating IT systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations.

Administers activities of Server Operations, ensuring that server operations complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Executes goals and objectives that integrate organization and office objectives. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies DOD, agency, major command, and local standards. Provides system design and development services for business systems and subsystems. Designs, builds, tests, and maintains virtual environments, storage area networks (SAN), logical unit numbers, and other server hardware that meet customer business needs. Performs feasibility studies and participates in special projects. Develops comprehensive long and shortrange plans on support projects, including in-depth cost analysis, installation goals and objectives, and the resources required to support them. Determines overall functional and system requirements and specifications as well as overall technical feasibility and economic viability of proposed projects. Conducts in-depth systems analyses of existing systems and system components to determine comprehensive installation business requirements and opportunities for new and/or enhanced information technology. Applies evaluative methodologies of security, reliability, and utilization of systems and networks already in existence in the organization to determine if organizational needs can be met by enhancing existing assets or if replacement is more cost effective.

  • All personnel must meet Cyberspace Workforce Management requirements as implemented in DoD 8570.01M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and are required to be certified at the Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level 2.
  • A physical is a condition of employment due to server installation requirements must be able to lift approximately 25 pounds.
  • 2 years of experience in Windows 2019 Server administration desired
  • 2 years of VMware vSphere/vSAN administration desired
  • 2 years of STIG evaluation and implementation desired

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology Management Series 2210 (Alternative A) positions located here. Individual Occupational Requirement This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience. Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Requirements GS-5 (or equivalent): bachelor's degree GS-7 (or equivalent):1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement GS-9 (or equivalent): master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree GS-11 (or equivalent): Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is analysis, project management, technical expertise, and customer assistance necessary to design, implement, and operate network servers; planning, designing, implementing, managing, and operating IT systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations. Must submit all transcripts if using Education to qualify. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Knowledge of concepts and techniques in the planning, operation, and maintenance of Server Operations, including the installation and implementation of enhancements. 2. Knowledge of, and skill in applying, advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices and knowledge of performance tuning tools and operations, project management methods and data center management sufficient to optimize system performance, troubleshoot system performance problems and perform a wide range of system operations management. 3. Ability to perform systems analysis of existing technology, initiate plans for acquisition enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings. 4. Knowledge of virtual environment, SAN and LUN provisioning, configuration and management.
