About the Position: The primary purpose for the establishment of this job is to serve as sale Material Handler, responsible for the receipt, storage and issuance of a wide range of food. Ensuring safe and adequate food/nonfood supplies are available to meet Nutrition Care Division requirements. Responsible for controlling Subsistence and expendable, supplies by utilizing the automated Nutrition Management Information System and Subsistence Prime Vendor Interpreter for inventory management.

Duties

Receive and maintain inventory subsistence items for the Nutrition Care Division. Submit and track orders for the Nutrition Care Division of the hospital. Sort, mark, and store food and materials according to standardized operating procedures. Load, unload, and store items in accordance with safe operating procedures. Utilize automated software to enter and retrieve data for the organization.

Requirements

• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires heavy lifting up to 40 pounds.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• This position requires the incumbent to have the Hepatitis Vaccination.

They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 8 kilograms (40 pounds). The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
