This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO), Information Technology Division (ITD), Infrastructure Management Branch (IMB). The incumbent is responsible for planning, evaluating, procuring and implementing information technology (IT) AOC-wide and providing technical assistance to all IT users.

The incumbent will serve as the senior staff member and technical authority in Information Technology to support the IMB Branch Chief in support of these branch functions:

Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Candidates for the GS-13 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as the following:
Expert experience in applying IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices in order to plan and carry out assignments, providing advice and guidance on complex information technology matters.
Experience in microcomputers, networks, network operating systems, and management information systems, both in theory and in an application. Serves as the technical authority within the AOC on the implementation and reinforcement of IT functions throughout the agency.
Expert experience of network operating systems, network protocols, and network management schemes.
Knowledge of various operating systems to expertly implement application interfaces. Skill in developing and implementing methodologies to seamlessly implement highly complex heterogeneous network (LAN) services.
Knowledge of IRM methodology for requirements analysis, design techniques and project management.
Expert experience in assessing new technologies and their applicability to specific AOC requirements and the ability to adapt these technologies to specific applications.
Strong oral and written communication skills to provide technical advice and consultation, develop and interpret policies and guidelines, develop, and present IT solutions and represent the organization in a wide variety of settings.
Education
***AT LEAST A BACHELOR'S DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OR A RELATED FIELD IS PREFERRED***
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program.
