This position is located in the Strategic Planning & Business Services Division for the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in Washington DC.
In this position, you will provide support and consult on technical equipment in the lockup area and installation of new products or upgrades.
Duties
Communicates effectively on cybersecurity topics with executives, managers, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders.
Develops detailed plans for the conduct or support of the applicable range of cyber operations through collaboration with other planners, operators and/or analysts.
Coordinates with the Office of Chief Information Officer / Client Experience Center to ensure the network infrastructure is performing correctly.
Prepares presentations and reports relative to subjects concerning the lockup area and agency releases and provides training and technical advice on matters relative to the sections area of responsibility.
Stays abreast of rapidly changing technology and makes recommendations relative to the potential acquisition of new IT products which impact agency releases of the lockup area.
Collaborates with other Agency and/or private industry professionals as necessary to support assigned work activities.
Provides end-user consultation and serves as the Point of Contact (POC) regarding the IT functions of lockup area.
Communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel. Prepares and presents briefings on complex or controversial issues.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level).
Basic Requirement:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate

GS-12
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-12 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-11 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience in developing and maintaining internal IT infrastructure and process documentation regarding releases; providing support and consultation on technical equipment, and providing support for the lockup IT architecture and infrastructure.
GS-13:
Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience auditing and assessing IT security risks; working with operating systems in support of cybersecurity-related functions to include Windows or Linux; assisting in the investigation of cybersecurity incidents; and participating in managing the operations and training for a cybersecurity program.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
