You will serve as a Medical Support Assistant in the of NMRTC TWENTY NINE PALMS CA.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Duties
You will assist staff, patients, visitors and other customers with healthcare related concerns, suggestions, questions and/or problems throughout a system that includes direct/ indirect patient contact/ care.
You will be considered a chief source of information and plays an important role in accomplishing work.
You will receive a large volume of telephone calls for the purpose of scheduling, rescheduling and cancelling patient appointments.
You will identify system problems and develop innovative programs and services to enhance the environment to benefit patients, families, visitors and staff.
You will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
For GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Experience expressing thoughts persuasively while utilizing a variety of methods reinforce message retention.
Experience clearly and effectively articulating to present, and promote varied ideas and issues.
Experience making clear and persuasive oral presentations.
Experience actively listening and clarifying information as needed.
Experience classifying, storing, and securing health records from creation to archive.
Experience planning, directing, and/or coordinating one or more administrative services of a health care facility to ensure organizational efficiency.
Experience providing support and input for the coordination of administrative services (e.g., scheduling, templates, staffing, and training) performed within the health care facilities or offices.
Experience assessing patients' administrative needs and providing guidance or assistance in resolving patient concerns.
Experience operating job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet.
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
