About the Position: This positions' investigative assignments involve resolving a wide range of criminal activities requiring extensive research, interviewing, planning, surveillance stakeout operations, and deductive techniques resulting in apprehension and/or detention of suspects.

Duties

Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Coordinate the investigatory activities of the assigned case with law enforcement agencies. Employ a methodology consistent with established crime scene preservation and criminal investigation techniques. Testify at all levels of judicial involvement. Perform surveillance work that, which at times, will require the utilization of special video equipment. Provide protection for visiting dignitaries. Coordinate the transfer of prisoners from civilian to military control.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires incumbent to be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas and radar guns.
  • This position requires state certification for radar and breathalyzer operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • In accordance with AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position is covered by The Omnibus Federal Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2001 (Public Law 106-554) requiring agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires successful graduation from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet and maintain all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire, and annually thereafter.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical/psychiatric evaluation.
  • This position requires successful certification for use of police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment and automated police information retrieval systems, such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • This position requires incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) associated equipment.
  • This position requires successful graduation from the Military Police Investigator Course.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56, incumbent is required to complete an initial Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification, and an annual re-certification thereafter.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
