This position serves as an IT Specialist (APPSW/INFOSEC), located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Service Delivery Staff (SDS) in Washington, DC. The primary purpose of this position is providing technical expertise in cloud services and the proper implementation and ongoing management of system security controls to include applications and platform services, as well as infrastructure environments.

The duties and responsibilities as an IT Specialist (APPSW/INFOSEC) GS-2210-14 generally include, but are not limited to the following: Manages the development of policies and procedures for Cloud Platform boundaries, as well as legacy systems and infrastructure, to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility, and preventing unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Manages and coordinates security controls for applications and cloud platforms to ensure target Authority to Operate (ATO) assessment and remediation requirements are met. Recommends compensatory and alternate security control strategies to close gaps between compliance guidance and technical solution capabilities. Supporting application software programs and cloud platforms which involve highly complex software development life cycles including requirements analysis, design evaluating, assessing, and implementation. Develops strategic IT security implementation planning and project management activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of IT Specialist (APPSW/INFOSEC) at (GS-2210-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade. Basic Qualifications (2210 series): Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as displaying a mastery of, and skill in applying IT information systems security and vulnerability concepts, principles and methods to at least three of the following: Review software designs for potential security risks and recommend countermeasures; Resolve integration issues of systems; Assist in certification of systems or network accreditations; Integrate information system security for a total infrastructure protection environment; Interpret system security and vulnerability policies, procedures, and strategies governing planning and delivery of services throughout the agency; Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT system security issues.
