Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing a variety of IT tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT systems throughout the USAO-DC. Typical work assignments will include:
Implements Help Desk policies and procedures to provide office-wide IT customer support. Participates with the Help Desk team in managing the implementation of a myriad of routine and complex IT incidents reported by customers directly to the Help Desk Section.
Provides IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, diagnosing, and resolving hardware/software problems in response to reported incidents by customers throughout the USAO-DC.
Participates in the installation, configuration, upgrade and troubleshooting of commonly used hardware and software systems within the organization.
Monitors functionality, security and integrity of Intranet/Internet services; and recommends instituting a rigorous content management plan to provide users with appropriate information in an effective manner.
Providing Intranet/Internet services that optimize customer experiences; works with the division/section liaison(s) to ensure that web pages are kept up-to-date; and troubleshoots and resolves problems with the delivery of Intranet/Internet services.
Implements policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
This position requires the ability to receive and retain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, OR Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Basic Requirement for All Applicants: Information Technology (IT)-related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences:
-Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.----Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
-Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
-Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 level work. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Examples of such experience are: providing technical and analytical assistance involving multiple IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the office; assisting in providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, diagnosing, and resolving hardware/software problems in response to reported incidents by customers; assisting with the installation, configuration, upgrade and troubleshooting of commonly used hardware/software systems; assisting in providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications and training, including orientation for new users; monitoring functionality, security and integrity of the networks and programs, by promoting awareness and understanding of adhering to systems security policies and procedures; implementing policies and procedures to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data; providing input to local IT policy and planning.
OR
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B or J.D.);
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university.
OR
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. When combining education and experience, when combined, are equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years is creditable.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
