Duties
This position is located under the Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations (OPRSO), Personnel Security Division, Intake & Operations Branch in Washington, District of Columbia.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
GS-9 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Searching files and compiling background investigation information; and
Identifying and correcting discrepancies and data omissions; and
Searching and updating personnel security databases; and
Contacting candidates and employees to provide instructions and obtain and clarify information related to the personnel security process.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.
OR
A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
GS-11: You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Providing assistance on suitability and security eligibility of personnel access to sensitive or classified information and material; and
Assisting with reviewing information from records, personnel files and other sources to determine suitability and security for entry and retention to positions; an
Identifying and correcting discrepancies and data omissions on personnel security submissions; and
Assisting with reviewing draft revisions and adheres to personnel security policies, procedures, and work processes.
OR
A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
A combination of successfully completed graduate school and education to meet qualification requirements that equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
GS-12: You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Providing technical assistance on suitability and security eligibility of personnel access to sensitive or classified information and material; and
Assisting with initial reciprocity determinations during the personnel security intake process; and
Assisting with implementing new or revised policies and procedures; and
Recommending solutions to personnel security requirements issues; and
Documenting investigative findings and justifications for suspensions.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
