You will serve as a SHIPYARD PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT in the COATINGS AND SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will manage, direct, monitor, interpret, and seek resolutions on all matters pertaining to the shop's daily work efforts.
You will be responsible for the technical and administrative direction of all personnel and functions encompassed by the shop's programs and operations.
You will be responsible for promoting and administering management programs such as safety, cost reduction, productivity improvement, energy conservation, incentive awards, and employee performance appraisals.
You will analyze and evaluate shop manpower resources, work operations, equipment and facilities against current and future scheduled work requirements.
You will be responsible for enforcing compliance with technical requirements contained in nuclear and non-nuclear work procedures, processes and instructions issued by NEPD and the Engineering and Planning Department.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience analyzing and evaluating shop personnel resources, work operations, equipment and facilities against current and future scheduled work.
* Experience in total shipyard work operations, trades and shop practices.
* Experience applying analytical management techniques in regards to production, material control, cost, quality control and personnel management.
* Experience utilizing project management concepts in conjunction with submarine nuclear work procedures.
* Experience evaluating the performance of technical work practices of Shop personnel.
