About the Position: The Deputy Director of Emergency Services is responsible for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention functions that encompass a variety of sensitive and critical garrison wide programs directly affecting the life, health, and safety of all garrison employees, students, family members, retirees, and visitors.

Duties

You will work directly for the Director in the management of the Directorate and are responsible for managing the efficient coordination and accomplishment of all aspects of assigned programs. Oversee the law enforcement and security program, which includes physical security, access control, and crime analysis, for US Army Garrison-Alaska. Represent the Garrison for law enforcement/security and fire protection/prevention matters to the surrounding civilian communities to include the local, county and state police and fire departments, as well as civic interest groups. Perform the full realm of supervisory responsibilities to include hiring, performance management, training, and discipline.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • Must qualify with a 9mm pistol and use chemical defense equipment.
  • This position is designated as a Key position and cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission, for access to and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NLETS/ NCIC terminals.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State drivers license.
