You will serve as a ELECTRICAL WORKER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will work from work orders, oral instructions, and wiring diagrams maintaining and repairing lighting fixtures and wiring, power fixtures, wiring and/or fire alarm systems. You will replace worn or bad switches, relays, and outlets. You will inspect, maintain, clean, repair and test a wide variety of equipment, circuitry and fixtures. You will utilize hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, test lamps and ammeters.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Cutting, bending, and replacing metal conduit, romex wire, fish tape, and installing proper wires; 2) Replacing worn or bad switches, relays, and outlets. 3) Repairing, testing, and adjusting a variety of equipment circuitry, and fixtures such as, electrical buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, office, and heating appliances, fire alarms, clocks, rheostats, thermostats, and electrical drills, grinders, and shop equipment.
