Duties
You will perform work involved in the repair of vehicles including but not limited to bull dozers, road graders, crawler tractors, power shovel, combat vehicles of all types, cranes, large transporters, and fire trucks.
You will recondition equipment by replacing/overhauling parts, components, and major assemblies which entails the installation, hook up and connection of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and final adjustments.
You will trace and locate defects and causes of mechanical problems to determine type and extent of necessary repairs.
You will prepare parts list for the various types of equipment.
You will perform routine cleanup of assigned work areas.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and a physical exam annually.
- You must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You may be required to lift and carry items, unassisted, weighing up to 50 pounds, and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling and positioning parts, assemblies and equipment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is Performing Duties without More Than Normal Supervision. Tasks include: Performing diagnostic and test functions in determining equipment serviceability of heavy duty vehicles and heavy mobile equipment; remove and install electrical wiring and components; AND prepare parts list for various types of equipment.
