About the Position: As an Equipment Specialist serves as a member of and/or consultant to the FORSCOM ARMS Team as a Production/Quality Control Inspector. Fayetteville , NC is located in the sand hills of the state about four hours from the mountains and two hours from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean . Numerous first class golfing venues abound and the area also has a full range of outdoor activities like camping, boating and fishing.
Duties
Responsible to conduct FORSCOM Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) inspections.
Evaluates maintenance shop operations, production control, quality control, and publications management systems of the Active and Reserve components within the command.
Evaluates mechanics and repair facilities for proper operation and compliance with Army regulations.
Serves as technical authority and staff aircraft maintenance specialist and advisor to the Commander.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent is required to possess a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant license or must have 10 years of experience in Army aviation as an Army Aviation Maintenance Officer and/or Maintenance Test Pilot.
- Position requires TDY travel up to 45%.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident to obtain and maintain employment in this position.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes involves 1. providing logistical support and guidance on maintenance procedures pertaining to rotary wing aircrafts; 2. providing technical assistance in the operation, testing, or maintenance of aircraft systems and resolving field problems through technical research/investigations of materiel deficiencies and malfunctions; 3. reviewing and applying practical and theoretical knowledge of assigned systems/aircraft for application to difficult and complex situations and problems that have no clear precedent; and 4. implement outcome-based product support strategies that optimize readiness and life cycle cost affordability of rotary wing aircraft systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade or the equivalent (GS-11) level in the federal service.
