About the Position: In this position, you will provide expert technical advice, assistance, and instruction to Army commands on the operation and maintenance of CECOM-managed P&E equipment and the timely resolution of hardware, software, maintenance and supply problems.
Duties
Serve as the IT-RAD STR Equipment Specialist (LAR) with responsibility to develop and implement the Technical Assistance plan for the IT-RAD family of systems throughout their lifecycle.
Provide expert technical advice, assistance, and instruction to Army commands on the operation and maintenance of CECOM-managed IT-RAD equipment and the timely resolution of hardware, software, maintenance and supply problems.
Investigate failure trends in systems malfunctions and logistics for the causes for unusual down time.
Reviews documented log events over a period of time and the solutions used to repair systems to identify causes of failure such as faulty design, improper operations, lack of user training, supply availability, etc.
Requirements
- 1. Required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. (NOTE: If a Top Secret clearance is required, employees must pass drug screening prior to appointment and subsequent periodic screening.)
- 2. Position is Emergency Essential (EE) in support of the US Forces during periods of increasing tension, mobilization, and war. (Chapter 75, Title 5 USC; FPM Chapter 753) Required to sign a DoD Form 2365.
- 3. The employee may be required to deploy to, and remain in, hostile zones during crisis situations or mobilization, which may require flying in military aircraft.
- 4. The employee will be required to live under field conditions; in tents consuming field rations such as Meals Ready to Eat (MRE).
- 5. Single parents or families, where both parents are EE, are required to prepare and present their supervisor an approved family care plan.
- 6. The employee may be required to travel 45% of the time.
- 7. The employee may be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas to support the command's weapon systems.
- 8. The employee is required to sign a mobility agreement, AMC Form 2884, IAW AMC-R 700-19.
- 9. The employee may be required to wear military type uniforms, protective and or Organizational Clothing, Individual OCIE Equipment, and Chemical Defense Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) specific to an operation or as directed by the Command
- 10. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid host nation vehicle operator license when assigned OCONUS.
- 11. The employee must meet current physical and functional requirements IAW AMC-R 700-19 and the current MOD to USCENTCOM Individual Protection and Individual -Unit Deployment Policy before employment and annually.
- 12. The employee is responsible for ensuring no medical, dental, vision, or other health-related restrictions could prevent a deployment.
- 13. The employee will maintain all required immunizations. If required, the employee will receive a series of vaccine immunizations to include Anthrax and annual boosters. Failure to receive vaccines may result in removal from the position.
- 14. The employee cannot be a Reserve Component or National Guard member subject to recall to active duty. The employee must report military recall status to management to effect removal from the Ready Reserve or exemption from retiree call-up.
- 15. Overseas assignment will be in IAW established tours as defined in DoD Civilian Personnel Joint Travel Regulations unless mission dictates otherwise.
- 16. The employee must maintain a valid "No Fee" (Official) and a Tourist Passport at all times at the agency’s expense.
- 17. The employee must maintain a Government Travel Credit Card (GTCC) IAW applicable rules and regulations. Failure to obtain or maintain the GTCC will result in disqualification and/or termination from the position.
- 18. The employee will maintain a government provided telephonic means of communication which LAP E-E/MM personnel are required to answer during duty and non-duty periods and respond to requests for information and assistance.

SPECIALIST EXPERIENCE:
I have one year of specialized experience equivalent at the NH-03/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, which includes: 1) Ability to provide expert technical and logistical advice on skill set specific equipment; AND 2) Ability to identify problems in the design of equipment in order to recommend design changes; AND 3) Ability Investigate trends in areas such as maintenance, supply, and training issues in order to recommend solutions; AND 4) Ability to advise commanders or their representatives on such matters as status of maintenance of equipment, maintenance and operation procedures associated with new equipment, technical analysis of the cause of maintenance failure trends, and related problems based on specialized training or experience in the particular equipment; AND 5) Ability to teach, coach and mentor lower grade LARs within the skill set.
