Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team in the Network Administration Section of the Information Technology Division at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia that is responsible for planning, administering, advising and evaluating IT services and providing office-wide IT end-user customer support.
Typical work assignments will include:
* Analyzing and determining technical network requirements to be used in acquiring software and hardware;
* Defining and maintaining the network architecture and infrastructure for VoIP and data communications systems;
* Coordinating installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of the Local Area Network (LAN);
* Developing network backup and recovery standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT and VoIP;
* Providing personal technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialist;
* Participating in providing district-wide integration, interoperability, and communications connection to the IT environment
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.

Qualifications
To be found qualified at the GS-12 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service and demonstrating the competencies listed below.
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification(s)).Individuals must have IT-related experience and training demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are coordinating, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and fine-tuning hardware and software related to the sharing and transmission of information; installing, testing, maintaining and coordinating upgrades to the VoIP network operating software; diagnosing and resolving network issues; diagnosing and resolving VoIP hardware/software problems; providing technical support for cellular devices; researching, evaluating and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns with VoIP; and developing and providing training.
