This position is located in the Behavioral Health Department of the Yankton Service Unit in Wagner, South Dakota and serves as the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with emphasis on providing individual and family centered preventive and intervention approaches to mental health, substance abuse, and family practice.
Duties
Performs psychiatric evaluations for child, adolescent and adult diagnosis and treatment, supportive therapy, counseling and guidance; provide case management.
Supervises medication maintenance; determines continuation or discontinuation of the medication regime.
Identify both typical and atypical presentations of psychiatric disorders.
Evaluates mental health status, current and past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors and social and developmental history.
Develops treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: therapeutic services to all age groups that includes assessment, diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses, formulate and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, educate and counsel patients, and collaborate with physicians concerning patient care and management
AND
Must possess a valid, unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority by a board of nursing; proof of certification for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) through American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC)
