Duties
Serves in the Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene (IH) Management Division (EIHMD), Occupational Health Sciences Directorate, Defense Centers for Public Health - Aberdeen (DCPH-A), as part of a team responsible for Defense Health Agency (DHA) .
Plans and executes Industrial Health management assistance visits throughout the Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Army IH Enterprises.
Support the mission of the Industrial Hygiene Field Services Division including: planning, conducting and leading IH surveys and health hazard studies.
Assists with planning and execution of special IH studies, checking occupational health and IH management problems (lack of sampling strategies or planning).
Provides training on industrial hygiene management and technical topics.
Perform industrial hygiene studies on highly controversial or complex operations for which there are no regulatory standards.
Conduct in-house professional staff training as required to maintain a high level of competency.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR
Related Degree: Bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For engineering degrees to be acceptable, the curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technicology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.

Certification from Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) [Formerly: The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)].
Specialized experience is defined as work that involves assisting with revising policies and/or objectives; performing field surveys at administrative, medical and/or industrial worksites; and conducting training.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
