About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Flight Simulator Training Instructor and/or Instrument Examiner (simulator only) utilizing motion and non-motion based UH-60 Blackhawk Flight Simulators.
This Term position may be extended to a maximum of eight (8) years and may be eligible for conversion to a career-conditional or career appointment at a later date; please see "Additional Information" below.
Duties
Utilize motion and non-motion based UH-60 (Blackhawk} flight simulators to determine pilot's ability to perform duties as an aviator/instructor/ examiner from a crew station with access to aircraft controls in accordance with Army Regulation 95-1.
Ensure that specific air crew training task is consistent with the unit mission, SOPs and regulations including emergency procedures and use of aircraft survivability equipment.
Develop and maintain an aviation unit POC list, SOP, information/briefing packets, schedule simulator training in RFMSS according to the needs of the units within the assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR).
Enter daily usage/maintenance date in the automated database.
Perform Quality Assurance Representative (OAR) duties with the on-site contract maintenance staff.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: (1) providing individual and classroom simulator training in basic and advanced helicopter flight techniques; (2) conducting training of helicopter instrument flight and navigation techniques/manuals; (3) providing air traffic control training; (4) training of air traffic radio communication procedures and all weather phenomena as related to aircraft environments; and (5) developing training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as Aviation or Aerospace Science.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
