This position is located in the Pharmacy Service at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of the position is to provide clerical support to Veterans.
Duties
Major Duties:
Provides telephone support for Veterans who have prescription-related issues and concerns.
Provides patient education via telephone on the medication refill process, the use of the automated telephone system, the use of the internet refill system, and general information of the pharmacy service.
Opens and scans mailed-in refill documents.
Assists patients with copayment issues.
Assists with billing actions through local patient billing and national billing call center.
Schedules and coordinates drug representative meetings with administrative staff.
Prepares time and attendance data for the Pharmacy Division.
Receives visitors and phone calls, and routes them based on knowledge of programs and operations.
Prepares and submits purchases for office supplies and related materials.
Performs as a personnel liaison, preparing requests for personnel actions, training requests, etc.
Possesses knowledge of grammar, format, and department policy.
Organizes and maintains an appointment schedule for visitors, meetings, and pharmaceutical manufacturers' representatives.
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 0730-1600; no weekends or holiday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 08/31/2023.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Using proper grammar and formatting to prepare correspondence; knowledge of the function and duties of various hospital departments; acting upon incoming communication and referring to appropriate individuals; organizing and maintaining an appointment schedule for visitors and meetings; communicating information in a manner that is easily understood by persons from varying backgrounds.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial and technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have successfully completed an equivalent combination of experience and education that is qualifying for entry level as described above. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary, however does require standing, ambulation, bending, lifting of objects of less than 25 pounds, and pushing of carts.
