About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Duties
Manage the operation of a security program entailing the protection of people, government property, conventional weapons, ammunition, and explosives in static storage, enroute, and shipment preparation.
Evaluate and make recommendations concerning the use of physical security equipment (PSE).
Review the physical security plans and performs onsite technical assistance visits, inspections, and surveys of weapons/ammunition/explosives storage areas and other facilities.
Determine if security plans meet regulatory requirements and recommend corrective action or additional types of protection.
Review policies and directives from higher authority and develop and recommend implementation procedures and guidelines for Command.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is covered by the Drug Free Workplace Program. It is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion or due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which which includes coordinating the operation of a security program, identifying security issues or deficiencies related to security of people, government property, conventional weapons, ammunition and/or explosives; and recommending improvements to security vulnerabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
