About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, III Corps Senior Command Aug, G-2 Security, Fort Cavazos, TX 76544.

Duties

Serves as a Security Officer, responsible for multi-discipline security functions relating to Information Security, Personnel Security, Traditional Cybersecurity, Industrial Security and security education. Develops security policy and local implementation instructions and oversees implementation of procedures and policies. Manages the command's program for classification, declassification, and downgrading of information. Investigates, records, and reports threats to security, compromises, and other security violations through appropriate channels. Serves as the principal advisor for Command in all traditional security aspects of the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Cyber Security program. Develops training curriculum, briefings, local policies, and provides training in traditional security aspects of Cyber Security. Serves as the principal Personnel Security (PERSEC) manager, managing the accountability of military personnel and DA Civilians in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • May be required to work overtime/irregular schedules or extended hours due to exercises, national special security events, or during national security crises.
  • This is a Key position IAW AR 690-11. For Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations, prior to occupying the position, must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
