About the Position: This is a Supervisory Security Guard position with US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 at Fort Eustis. Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. The Hampton Roads/Tidewater area has all the conveniences of a big city with charm of small town and rural areas.
Duties
Supervises the activities of a guard force over two or more facilities/sites, on rotating shifts 24/7 within the TRADOC AOR.
Uses subordinate leads to direct, coordinate, and oversee the security guard force and associated work at multiple facilities and across multiple shifts.
Responsible for the day-to-day planning, management, and oversight of assigned facilities.
Responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the Army Security Guard program IAW AR 190-56 for HQ TRADOC.
Through Lead Security Guards: conducts access control and limited law enforcement operations to ensure the maintenance of antiterrorism and
physical security standards.
As required by instructions or force protection level, conducts searches/inspections, in accordance with standing operating procedures.
Inspects containers, personal property, and documents on private, commercial and government vehicles, and exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all duties.
Supervises the work of four (4) or more Lead Security Guards, GS-07 and thirteen Security Guards, GS-06.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- In accordance with AR 190-56, the incumbent must take and pass an initial pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Incumbent is required to maintain proficiency, and qualify, in firearm use (testing conducted semi-annually). Failure to do so may be grounds for removal from the position and/or Federal service.
- Incumbent must successfully complete all required Security Guard training within six (6) months after appointment to this position.
- Incumbent is required to attend re-certification training at a minimum every 12 months based on availability of schools and/or training.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Incumbent must successfully complete an initial and subsequent annual cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification within six (6) months after appointment to this position
- Incumbent is required to wear a uniform, and maintain a high standard of appearance, grooming, and hygiene IAW AR 190-56.
- This position requires the incumbent to work in inclement weather conditions the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conduct access control and limited law enforcement operations to ensure the maintenance of antiterrorism and physical security standards; enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, official orders, policies, procedures and regulations; protection of government and personal property; control of movement of personnel and vehicles through the facility; and the support of the implementation of emergency plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
