You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO) of JOINT FORCES COMMAND NORFOLK.
Duties
You will work in direct coordination with the JFCNF Security Manager as a member of a team that plans and conducts all security related training, administration, and inspections for the Command Security Management Office.
You will coordinate all matters to security protection of information and sensitive operations from national security threats.
You will be the primary technical and operational advisor to the Commander In the absence of the Security Manager
You will be responsible for planning, direction, and control of security programs, and the conduction of comprehensive review and analysis
You will serves as the authoritative source for all matters concerning security, crime prevention, and Information and Intelligence Sharing guidelines, policies, and procedures for unique materials and sensitive programs in the organization.
You will schedule inspections, approve inspection reports, and systematically follows-up on status of corrective actions.
You will maintain inspection standards and evaluation findings, recommendations, and ensures verification and proper implementation of the Security Program.
You will provide NATO security in-briefs, maintain Personnel Security databases including, but not limited to, personal security clearances and foreign visitor requests (FVR).
You will develops security, educational and training programs to inform and increase awareness among military personnel and civilian employees.
You will identify security shortfalls and implements corresponding plans to correct weaknesses. Conducts security inspections and staff assistance visits.
You will assist in the preparation for Higher Headquarter inspections and Staff Assist Visits and ensures that programs meet all current regulatory guidelines and regulations.
Requirements

- You must be willing to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- - You must complete a successful pre-employment drug test (including marijuana). A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You may be required to travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in applying knowledge of policies, procedures, and requirements established under appropriate authorities to protect information that, if subjected to unauthorized disclosure could reasonably be expected to cause damage to national security.
Experience in intelligence operations; public safety and security operations; occupational health and safety; investigation and inspection techniques; or rules, regulations, precautions, and prevention techniques for the protection of people, data, and property.
Experience in local, state, and Federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, installation resources, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents.
Experience in anticipating and meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.
Experience in delivering high-quality products and services and is committed to continuous improvement.
Experience in developing, evaluating, maintaining, or operating systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials.
Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons having or proposed to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or work sites.
Experience communicating orally demonstrating clear and effective skills articulating, presenting, and promoting varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences.

Education
GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
