About the Position: This is a Food Service Worker, WG-7408-02, position with the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade, Logistic Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division located at Fort Greely, Alaska.
Duties
Sets up and replenishes food service and steam tables with hot and cold food.
Performs a variety of duties incidental to the maintenance and cleanliness of the area to which assigned.
Disassembles, cleans and resembled dish washing machines, mixers, and similar kitchen equipment used.
Prepares fruits and vegetables for serving. Cuts lemons, prepares butter chips, opens cans and portions out food. Makes Coffee, tea and other beverages. Pours juices and beverages. Makes a variety of fruit and vegetable salads.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The employee is required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations.
- Heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability perform the most difficult and complex Food Service tasks and/or duties to include setting up appropriate food items for each meal; assist with food preparation; serve food items for cafeteria lines in the correct portion size; clean dining room such as floors, tables, chairs, etc. as needed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves moderate physical effort. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds, e.g., lifting individual dishes or trays in serving or cleaning tables; lifting trays or clean dishes. Lifts filled milk containers weighing up to 55 pounds to heights of three (3) feet. Is constantly standing and walking.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen and dining areas. Steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted, but usually noisy from food service activities and there is a danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Subject to prolonged periods of standing. Must abide by personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures such as wearing a hairnet or hat and a clean uniform daily.
