About the Position: This position is a Food Service Worker, WG-7408-03 position with the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Greely Supply and Services Division located at Fort Greely, AK.

Duties

Assemble ingredients and prepare a variety of cooked and uncooked vegetable, fruit, and gelatin salads. Provide dining room service to customers. Maintain and restock beverage islands, coffee brewer, milk dispenser, condiments and other food service supplies in main dining room. Operate cash collection system, perform check-out duties for a variety of customers utilizing established procedures. Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds, with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Requires some heavy work such as scouring, scrubbing and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted, but usually noisy from food service activities and there is a danger of slipping on floors where water, food or beverages have been dropped. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Subject to prolonged periods of standing. Must abide by personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures such as wearing a hairnet or hat and a clean uniform daily. While working as cashier might be subjected to some stress while serving long lines of customers.
