Duties
You will perform as a system administrator for LINUX/UNIX based scientific oceanographic production information systems.
You will install user applications in accordance with NAVOCEANO processes.
You will provide consultation and research in support of future systems designs.
You will develop scripts.
Requirements

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 level I within 12 months of appointment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Experience:
GS-11:In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Installing, configuring and maintaining functionality of operating systems;
Developing scripts on Linx/Unix systems for system monitoring and system administration tasks;
Providing technical assistance, diagnostics and troubleshooting support to ensure production process functionality;
GS-09: In addition to the Basic Education Requirements, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Installing, configuring and maintaining functionality of operating systems;
Utilizing Linux/Unix based operating systems to include installation, configuration, basic scripting, and secure cyber configurations;
Managing computer system and technologies in support of user requirements including integrated desktop high-speed graphics capabilities, network files services, and near-real time data receipt and processing; an

Education
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in computer science
or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree
or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
