About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with the US Army Intelligence & Security Command, 780th MI BDE, 782D MI BN responsible for working at a developmental level to assist with developing capabilities in support of Joint and National Cyber Warfare requirements.

Duties

As a developmental Cyber Capabilities Developer (CCD), receives tailored instruction, guidance, training, and supervision necessary for successful performance in the full performance level, or target position. Supports Cyber Solutions Development members that provide external organizations with technical subject matter expertise on offensive cyber development activities. Studies emerging technology trends and potential applications to cutting-edge offensive and defensive cyber capabilities. Utilizes basic computer design, construction, architecture, processor organization, memory hierarchy, virtualization, compilation, linking, execution and security.

Requirements

• Must successfully meet work role requirements as defined by the USCC Job Qualification Standards (JQS) for the basic level cyberspace capability developer (CCD) to include passing the basic skills level exam (BSLE) within twenty-four (24) months.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency (NSA) facilities and networks.
• Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 25% or less.
• All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.

To meet the education requirements for the 0854 series, you must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced that 1st year physics and chemistry) in 5 of the following 7 areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Currently be registered as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts, AND proof of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or other written test required for professional registration. OR Successfully completed at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included the courses specified above.
