The NASA Science Mission Directorate is seeking a qualified individual to serve as an Administrative Analyst. As part of the Administration Branch, the individual will collaborate and work with senior executives and management, human resources, and SMD's partners (NASA centers, other federal agencies, universities, laboratories, etc.), to foster the Artemis Generation's scientists and researchers advancing the Nation in the discovery and exploration of space and earth science.
Duties
Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Performs comprehensive administrative management services and functions such as creating and interpreting policy, matriculation and attrition processes, training and awards budget management, and workforce modeling.
Collaborates with executives, management, and mission support enterprise offices (MSEOs) to coordinate requests and policy/procedure issues to resolve specific problems.
Provides guidance, advice, analysis, and oversight for implementation of initiatives and activities.
Develops and advises on administrative requirements for a complex organization, and actively analyzes and participates in developing and implementing administrative management policies.
Implements, evaluates, provides guidance and oversight for a full of range of administrative and personnel activities, works and collaborates closely with directorate and division executive management, the executive officer and admin officer cadres.
Manages the directorate's internship programs, coordinating and collaborating with the Office of STEM Engagement, the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Centers, and other partner organizations.
Provides evaluation, advice and counsel on the operations of Agency/Directorate workforce and leadership programs; advances and supports SMD's goals and initiatives in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA/DEIA) within agency and SMD.
Records, monitors, reports, and maintains staff level statistics, to include authorization, actual on board, and projected staff levels for varied position groups, full-time equivalent (FTE) and non-FTE management.
Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

- If the individual selected is currently at the GS-14 grade level, they will be detailed at their current grade and step. If the individual is a current GS-13 they will be temporarily promoted to the GS-14 level.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Participating in comprehensive administrative services and functions, human resources systems and processes
and/or Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA/IDEA) programs, and workforce policies and regulations
for an organization;
Working and collaborating with internal and external customers to implement or execute programs to establish the
goals and objective; and
Procuring or monitoring program related training events, activities, or personnel training progression.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Managing comprehensive administrative services and functions, human resources systems and processes and/or
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA/IDEA) programs, and workforce policies and regulations for an
organization;
Partnering with executives, senior leadership, and internal and external customers to develop, implement, and
execute programs; ensuring the effectiveness of the programs and meeting established goals and objectives; and
Managing, implementing, or executing program related training events or activities for personnel.
