This Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) position is located in Health Administration Service (HAS) at the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC. The AOD is delegated full authority and responsibility to exercise both the Medical Center Director's and the Chief HAS prerogative in medical administrative matters occurring during the off tour of duty and represents and acts on behalf of the Medical Center Director in (nonpolicy making) administrative matters.
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitors for compliance and timely update, of expiration of time-limited credentials.
Serves as subject matter expert (SME) in the field of credentialing.
Receives and reviews VetPro reports detecting problem areas requiring further investigation.
Manages provider applications (initial) for Non-LIPs credentialing within the VAMC.
Assures application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account (VetPro or other internal databases and spreadsheets) meet technical requirements.
Determines processes for coordination of incoming data and documents from a variety of sources.
Analyzes and manages issues related to documents that do not meet expected requirements, regulations or guidelines such as adverse actions against licensures, certifications, and NPDB) CQ reports.
Conducts final appointment into the VetPro database, after thoroughly researching, analyzing and validating all data, information, documents and signature authorities.
Develops and providing routine and special reports as requested by the C&P manager/Analyst.
Possesses a credit card and is responsible for maintaining records, reconciling monthly charge statements and verifying legitimacy of requests for NPDB Single and CQ enrollments/ renewals, licensure verification (if applicable), National Student Clearing House, Work Number and certifications (if applicable).
Reconciles transactions and resolving discrepancies with Fiscal Service.
Performs other credentialing duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Incumbent is required to work rotating shifts, providing coverage 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of this announcement, 08/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

GS-06 Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Medical Administrative Assistant at the full performance level (GS-06), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes, but not limited to:
Providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information;
Processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records;
Performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics;
Providing information and customer service.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Medical Administrative Assistant at the full performance level (GS-07), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes, but not limited to:
Achieving management objectives and supporting the decisions of management in carrying out duties.
Providing technical guidance necessary to meet procedural, legal, and administrative requirements relating to the care and treatment of patients to achieve optimum use of available resources.
Interpreting VA rules and regulations relating to determining legal entitlement to benefits relating to hospital admission; nursing home, dental, VA Care in the Community, lodging, death benefits and death certificates, and outpatient care; patient check-in; dental treatment; prosthetic appliances; patient transfer; and beneficiary travel.
Certifying officer for documents pertaining to the administration of laws concerning the VA.
Ensuring that appropriate legal, regulatory and policy requirements are met. Incumbent processes administrative issues surrounding beneficiary death, seriously ill cases, missing patients (Code Yellow), suicides, assaults, deaths on arrival (DOA's), homicides, medical emergencies (Code Blue), cost recovery matters, and facility or community disasters, etc.
Providing written and oral reporting of incidents involving beneficiaries, employees, as well as safety or other issues. Incumbent determines the appropriateness of notifying the medical examiner of unusual deaths.

Physical Requirements: The work requires sitting, with walking, standing, bending and light lifting (such as suitcases, clothing, or patient records). The work requires the incumbent to use a keyboard to access computer systems. Work is accomplished throughout the Medical Center and within an office setting. May require the incumbent to go to wards, clinics or other sections of the medical center. The incumbent is constantly in the public eye in working with the veterans, families, friends and professional staff.
