The Phoenix Healthcare System is recruiting for Patient Services Assistants positions which are located in the Compensation and Pension (C&P) service line. Positions are primarily responsible for performing administrative duties including receiving and scheduling requests for C&P examinations. Check patients in and out and entering all required data at the time of check-out and ensuring accuracy.
Duties
Major Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Performing the administrative operations of the Compensation and Pension/Registry Program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ.
Receiving all requests Medical Examinations (VA Form 21-2507) initiated from VA Regional Office for C&P examinations, prepares the request for initial review/orders by the clinician, scheduled all appointments into Vista and notifies the veteran by telephone and mail of the appointment(s).
Preparing paperwork for each clinic, assures that the appropriate forms are included, and assures delivery prior to and pick-up after the clinic is completed.
Receives and tracks all Request for Medical Examinations (VA Form- 21-2507)'s as they arrive from Regional Office.
Checking patients in and out and is responsible for collecting compiling and entering all required data at the time of check-out all of which must be extremely accurate..
Having good knowledge of and able to advise the veteran of the C&P/Registry process.
Monitors, reviews, and checks requests for allotment of funds from approved operation budgets.
Manages overall supply needs, services, material movement, and real property for the medical facility.
Ensuring orders are in for lab, x-ray, and other tests necessary for the examinations.
Assuring that the veteran is given appropriate instruction for reaching the exam site and for completing any testing that may be required.
Monitoring the completion of all examinations and secures results for review in a timely manner.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: receiving and scheduling requests for Compensation and Pension(C&P) examinations, ordering labs, x-rays, and other tests necessary for examinations. Receiving all requests (2507's) initiated from the VA Regional office for C&P examinations and prepares request for initial review/orders by the clinician Checks patients in and out and is responsible for collecting compiling and entering all required data at the time of check-out all of which must be extremely accurate. Monitors the completion of all examinations and secures results for review in a timely manner.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
