About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, National Training Center, G2 Security Division, Fort Irwin, CA 92310.

Duties

Serves as the Information Security (INFOSEC) specialist responsible for authoritative information and service for the INFOSEC Program. Identifies, investigates, records, and reports actual or suspected threats to security, compromises, and other INFOSEC violations. Verifies security clearances and need-to-know requirements for all individuals prior to granting access to classified information. Establishes and maintains effective and efficient security program within the organization such as Industrial Security (INDUSEC) and Personnel Security (PERSEC). Provides security expertise to the unit Security Education and Training Awareness (SETA) program, including the areas of physical, personnel, information, industrial and general security, to instill a high level of security awareness. Administer policies, practices and metrics which reflect the security posture of the G-2 Security Office.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 15% of the time.
  • This position requires obtaining the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined; providing direct support and technical assistance in the Information Security program such as classifying, marking, redacting, transporting, and safeguarding protected information and/or classified information in compliance with proper policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-0080-09). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Education

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a closely related (CR) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
