About the Position: Army Veterinary Services' mission is to assure effective execution of full spectrum veterinary services for Department of Defense Veterinary missions.

Duties

Provides a wide variety of administrative assistance to the Executive Director?s office for the U.S. Army Veterinary Services Policy and Operations Chief. Collects, reviews, and consolidates policies and assorted memoranda for review and transmittal. Manages internal and external inquiries to include suspense inquiry tracking. Maintains master files of guidance memos and related standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assists action officers/analysts on a wide variety of projects and programs including training course preparation, scheduling interviews, and in/out processing. Produces a variety of recurring reports, charts, and statistical data while utilizing a vast array of automated systems. Provides Army Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS) support to include monitoring leave usage, compensatory time, and timecard accuracy. Provides support with the Defense Travel System (DTS) by preparing travel orders, arranging transportation, hotel reservations, and fielding queries. Arranges conferences and meetings as well as records the minutes of the meetings. Provides assistance and advice to other administrative staff as requested/required.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 5% of the time required.
  • One-year probationary period may be required if not already served in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower level (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCommunicationsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
