Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Immediate Office of the Secretary to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Managing day-to-day operations of the National Security Vetting Branch, exercising full supervisory authority over a subordinate staff.
Directing and supervising critical analysis and evaluation of background investigation reports and other information obtained from a multitude of sources related to the loyalty and suitability of applicants being considered for employment.
Recommending actions on cases where facts are not completely ascertained, or where there is contradictory evidence or incomplete, inconclusive, or controversial material. Notifying proper management officials when derogatory information appears in investigative reports.
Adjudicating background investigations using prescribed standards and procedures for sensitive positions when derogatory information is present.
Maintaining liaison with the security offices of other Federal Agencies, such as Office of Personnel Management, Department of Defense/Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, Department of State, etc., to support the necessary interchange of security information.
Representing the Personnel Security Division at internal and external meetings, conferences, and workshops pertaining to national security vetting and national security clearance processing.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:
Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least four (4) of the following:
1. Providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of security, intel, adjudications, and administrative issues.
2. Providing a second level review on cases with significant derogatory information, approving/disapproving, and signing Letters of Denials/Letters of Revocations to deny or revoke security clearances and/or assignment to sensitive and non-sensitive duties.
3. Evaluating reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and preparing detailed responses.
4. Administering guidance and briefing federal agency leadership on personnel security investigations, case facts and adjudicative issues.
5. Managing and/or overseeing a personnel security program in accordance with federal policy.
6. Developing and/or drafting policies for personnel security programs.
