About the Position: This is a Logistics Management Specialist position located in the US Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Logistics Center at Redstone Arsenal, AL. This is a developmental position that will be filled at either the GS-05 or GS-07 or GS-09 grade. Full Performance at the GS-11 grade level. Duties

Serves in an entry level developmental capacity. Performs duties characteristic of the specific occupational series GS-0346, accomplishing a variety of developmental duties in support of the overall work of the organization. Assignments become progressively more difficult, and supervision becomes progressively less detailed as incumbent gains more experience until the full performance level is reached.

Requirements

  • This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, or must have completed by the end of May 2023, a qualifying associate's, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Positions are open to: Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associate, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study. Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years after degree or certificate completion. See Proof of Eligibility for an extensive list of document requirements for all employment authorities. Pathways Recent Graduate Applicants can be selected at either the GS-05 or GS-07 or GS-9 grade level. The target grade of this position is GS-11. After Program completion, Department of the Army Pathways Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years). To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must: Be a U.S. Citizen Successfully complete all the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program as defined in the Agency Participant Agreement. Demonstrate successful job performance. Meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification standard including any applicable positive education requirements and/or selection placement factors and any other designated special qualifications requirements and conditions of employment (e.g., medical standards) appropriate for the position to which being converted. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the GS-5 grade level: General Experience: Three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level, which includes analyzing, gathering, and reviewing statistical data to prepare reports and using a variety of computer software to create spreadsheets, compose correspondence, and generate reports. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-7 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing and researching statistical data or using automated logistics programs to reconcile logistical discrepancies; or, assisting in the analysis and forecasting requirements for materiel, inventory or supplies; or, interpreting and applying supply, maintenance or transportation regulations, policies, practices or procedures; or, assisting in scheduling transportation for the effective movement and distribution of units, personnel, equipment, or supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. To qualify at the GS-9 grade level: Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves utilizing knowledge of logistics procedures, methods, techniques, regulations, policies, and programs governing supply operations. or I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, or other fields related to the position.
