This position is in the Department of Justice, Justice Management Division, Equal Employment Opportunity Staff (EEOS). The EEOS is responsible for developing policy for implementing a model EEO program. EEOS provides advice, technical assistance, and support to JMD and DOJ Component personnel staff. You will be responsible for managing the DOJ Veterans Employment Program and assisting in the development, coordination and implementation of the various activities for which EEOS is responsible.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Manages the DOJ Veterans Employment Program and assists veterans in learning about and applying for employment opportunities. Formulates and implements policies and procedures pertaining to EEO and the employment of veterans. Works with DOJ HR and EEO offices, Disability Employment Program Managers, Veterans Program Managers, and hiring managers to implement policies and procedures pursuant to Veterans Recruitment Authority, and Executive Order 13518-Veterans Employment Initiative. Prepares and delivers presentations and training regarding the DOJ Veterans Employment Program Serves as a point of contact to OPM on veteran employment matters. Develops and implements comprehensive policies, plans, and strategies for long-range projects. Develops partnerships with organizations and federal agencies that support the employment of veterans to conduct employment outreach to veterans and disabled veterans. Develops and implements comprehensive policies, plans, and strategies for long-range projects, actions, and activities of the organization. Serve as a recognized advisor on broad and complex policies and programs that affect EEO and the employment of veterans. Analyzes and evaluates available data on the effectiveness of programs or operations to meet organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or trial period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Equal Employment Specialist, (GS-0260-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. Basic Qualification Requirement To qualify as a GS-13, you must possess at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or above the GS-12 grade level or equivalent. Specialized Experience Specialized experience is defined as performing work at least 1 year (52 weeks) at or above the GS-12 grade level or equivalent that involves: Advising on the impact of EEO laws, regulations, programs, and polices; Conducting training regarding EEO programs; AND Preparing reports on EEO efforts. Ideal candidate While resumes will be reviewed based on the specialized experience described about, the ideal candidate will also possess the following experience: - Providing advice, direction, or guidance on Veteran employment programs - Developing and/or conducting training on Veteran programs as it applies to EEO - Researching and presenting data concerning Veteran programs You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/04/2023.
