The selectee will serve as an Information Technology Specialist in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Operations Program, Customer Solutions Branch. Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
GS:11: You qualify at the GS-11 level (starting salary $78,592) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as providing virtual assistance, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and technical training pertaining to personal computers (PC’s); providing technical information and communicating computer network concepts to individuals seeking technological support and security problem issues; and advising management regarding the organization of work processes and functions into data systems; network and/or workstation administrator functions OR;
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR;
A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fiends identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Education: all academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level (starting salary $94,199) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as integrating security protocols and risk management considerations throughout the IT system life cycle; including planning, design, development, test, and integration; providing virtual assistance, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and technical training pertaining to personal computers (PC’s); providing technical information and communicating computer network concepts to individuals seeking technological support and security problem issues; and advising management regarding the organization of work processes and functions into data systems; network and/or workstation administrator functions.
In addition to the specialized experience required, candidates must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Attention to Detail – Maintains, configures, optimizes, and troubleshoots computer systems and network technologies (i.e. servers, databases, operating systems, network services and equipment) responsibly to meet customer performance requirements.
Customer Service – Provides guidance, direction, and technical support to the user community by analyzing and troubleshooting complex problems impacting hardware attached to the network or communications devices.
Oral Communication – Communicates technical information regarding systems performance requirements or technologies needed to meet future information technology needs in clear and concise manner to management and the user community.
Problem Solving –Identifies problems related to managing various aspects of systems administration (i.e. Active Directory, Communications, Virtualization, Storage) and developing solutions or recommendations to modify, configure, or integrate technologies to meet customer performance requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply.
