About the Position: Serves as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs.

Duties

Serve as Army Community Service (ACS) Specialist at an installation with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs. Implement and manage installation ACS services, establishing goals, objectives, and procedures IAW applicable State, DoD, DA and other federal guidance, regulations, and laws. Use various forums and media to reach the serviced population, including conferences, meetings, and via telephone, television, radio, and/or the internet. Serve as the initial point of contact for all ACS services. Provide ACS services to include client intake, information and referral, crisis intervention, life skills, and transition service.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application package.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves: 1. Support social service tasks to include client intake and referral to social service programs; 2. Draft reports, memorandums, and presentations regarding community services and activities; 3. Participate in marketing and public relations campaigns to ensure target population is informed of available resources and activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
