Duties

Oversee the ASAP Prevention programs and executes the Risk Reduction Program (RRP). Oversee the drug testing team ensuring adherence to strict quality control measures and DoD and DA directives. Oversee and supervises the Army Substance Abuse Program’s Suicide Prevention Program (SPP), and Prevention Coordinator (PC). Act as branch chief for ASAP Prevention and facilitates the Installation Prevention Team process.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position such as economics, political science, psychology, sociology, anthropology or counseling and mental health degree programs, and public health education programs. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning, developing and administering an Army Substance Abuse prevention program to accomplish program goals 2) Overseeing personnel performing substance abuse prevention and testing 3) Administering substance abuse testing programs 4) Developing policies, procedures, and directives for Prevention Control, Risk Reduction, and Suicide Prevention programs; and 5) Coordination of services for Unit Prevention Leaders and the ASAP's Drug Testing Program. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingManaging Human ResourcesOral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11)..
